Game Plan Week 7
In my project, I will have students collaborate with the community, staff, administration, students and parents to complete a podcasting project. My students will utilize the community blog and classroom blog to determine what subjects/topics people would like discussed in the community podcast. The podcasts would be linked on the school website for the community and school district to utilize. Students would be asked to be creative and innovative in completing the project. They would be responsible for creating original works and also collaborations. Secondly students would be responsible for organizing and analyzing information from many sources and ethically using that information in the podcast. Finally, students would be responsible for planning and managing the project to ensure a weekly podcast is uploaded to the school website

Having your students use current events/topics in the community is a great to open your classroom to educational stakeholders. The podcast project not only teaches your students about the technology but about the importance being an active and involved member of the community.
ReplyDeleteHi Susie,
ReplyDeleteGetting you school and community working together toward a common goal is a great idea! In order for our students to be successful, everyone has to work together. I also like that way that you are giving the students the responsibility of making sure the project stays up to date. Good luck!
Angie
Kristina,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate all of your input and ideas throughout this GAME Plan project. I look forward to getting the project up and running. Thanks again.
Angie,
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments. I hope that the project is a successful in involving the community in the school district. The community really does not play an active role right now. I am hoping to change that.
Susie,
ReplyDeleteI want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly. Would you have each student make a new podcast for the week, or have groups rotate over the course of several weeks? I would think you wouldn't want to overload your school's website with too many students' podcasts- community members may be overwhelmed by all the choices and just avoid it. I like the idea of bringing school and community together. Good luck!
Susie,
ReplyDeleteA podcast sounds like an exciting learning opportunity for your students. I remember doing a podcast with my students last year for the first time and they enjoyed listening to themselves on the computer. Good luck with your GAME plan as I'm sure your students will greatly appreciate this learning experience.
