My GAME Plan is to introduce podcasting into my computer applications classes. So far, I have basically just been testing the waters to see what is blocked on our network and what is not. This year it seems that we have blocked more sites than we had previously done. This makes it extremely difficult to use certain programs and to get to sites that would be beneficial to the students.
I have mentioned the podcasting project to my students to get their reaction. They all seem really excited about the prospect of creating a podcast. I would love to hear about any programs that other teachers have been utilizing in order to have students complete podcasts. I really need to investigate further. If you have any suggestions or feedback, please let me know.

I found a couple of links that might be useful for you in finding out more about podcasting:

I have only done one podcast with students and I found that Audacity works the best for recording and editing podcasts. Also having your own domain (you can buy a very cheap domain at GoDaddy.com) and website really helps to streamline the process of managing podcasts.
Hi Susie,
ReplyDeleteI think you're students will enjoy creating podcasts. I have used it twice before with my students and it seemed very simple to do. To create the voice recordings for the podcast, I used a program called Audacity. This was already installed on my school's laptop computer. So, it was convenient to use. This program also allowed me to edit their voice recordings in a very user friendly way. Then, to
publish the podcast, I used www.podbean.com. This was a free website that was also simple to use. I hope this information helps.
I used one of the sites on our technology resources called podcast for teachers. It wasn't too bad to use, but since I uploaded from my mp3 player, I needed to know how to do that part of it. Since I did, it wasn't bad, but if you haven't played with that kind of thing before, it could b tricky. Overall it wasn't a bad experience.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristina for all of the information. I will review the websites and see what I can find.
ReplyDeleteJewel,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the information. I have used Audacity in the past. It is a great tool. I will check out podbean.com. Thanks again.
Beth,
ReplyDeleteI will look into podcast for teachers. Thanks for the information.
Susie,
ReplyDeleteHave you tried to contact your computer technolgy coach or person expressing your trouble with the podcast sites? Ours always tells us that if we can't get on something ask first and see if they can unblock it for us. I haven't tried a podcast with my students. I always have a hard time getting them to talk loud enough for the mike to pick up. You would think that would never be a problem for little ones but they get embarassed easily!
