I have gained a great deal of information throughout the last few weeks relating to podcasts. I still do not have a finished lesson plan for my classroom. I have many ideas, and I have received many useful comments from colleagues. However, I have not finalized a set lesson. I believe that I have all of the tools and information I need to finalize the project; however, I'm still unsure as to the content / information that I should have students create a podcast for. I would like to utilize the podcast to encompass all subjects not just random thoughts.
A goal that I have set for myself is to create a few more podcasts on my own and become more familiar with the process. I have created a few; however, I would like to be more familiar with the tool and the process.

Hi, Susie. It's nice to see that you are making progress on the idea of using podcasts. While I've only had limited expierce with them, they seem like a great tool. In English, it would be fun to use a podcast to have the kids do poetry or something - maybe I can try that with them. I hope you are able to be successful with this tool.
ReplyDeleteI think podcasting is kind of like writing, to be a great writer you need to read great writing. To be a great podcaster you need to listen to great podcasts. I have been subscribing to a couple of great podcasts that might also work for your students. Take a listen!

Kristina, thanks for sharing those podcasts! It's very true that exposing yourself to quality work in any area will more likely inspire you to create quality work. I've scheduled my middle schoolers to podcast their song compositions because they tell me they are deathly afraid of presenting the in front of the class themselves. Somehow, through the computer, it's easier to handle. I'll do whatever it takes to make them comfortable sharing their hard work and making them feel good about it.
ReplyDeleteBeth,
ReplyDeleteThank you. I hope it will be a great experience for me and my students.
Kristina,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the podcast sites. I can't wait to listen to them. Thanks again for all of your input.
Kristina,
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the podcast sites. I am looking forward to listening to them and sharing them with my students.
My students created podcasts last year and loved recording and listening to themselves and each other. It was a Walden course project, and they simply introduced themselves and told how much and what kind of technology they used at home and at school.
I plan on using podcasts again as a response to literature activity in which they assume the character (first person point of view) and add a chapter to the book we are reading. They have listened to the entire book on a CD, and I think this will help them with their podcast.
